The Chairman of Herefordshire County Council has visited a local care home to congratulate staff on their hard work and commitment throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
On 21 February, Councillor Sebastian Bowen, visited Ledbury Care Home and thanked the team at the home.
The celebrations came as the home congratulated staff for their ongoing efforts over the last two years. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the home was awarded with a ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in January 2022.
Shelly Ford, who has worked for Shaw for 12 years in various homes across the country, was appointed as service manager in August 2021.
She said: “We had such a wonderful day welcoming Cllr Bowen to our home here in Ledbury. I think it’s important for members of the community to see what great service we offer here and to spend time with the residents who all have such great stories to tell.
“It really was great to see the staff and residents enjoying themselves after what’s been a difficult couple of years for all workers in health and social care.”
The CQC report said Mrs Ford was ‘keen to promote a culture of support for staff’ and that she and the staff team ‘worked in partnership with other professionals and the local community to achieve good outcomes for people.’
“We’ve worked hard throughout tough conditions to ensure we not only maintain our standards of care but improve them too,” she added. “This rating from the CQC is a testament to the hard work of our team.”
