A resident at Hillside care home in Pulborough celebrated her 100th birthday on 3rd June. Lillian Mogford was born in London in 1912 and had two sisters, Peggy and Ella. Ella passed away leaving a daughter – Sally – who visits Lillian regularly.
After her education at Downs Boarding School in Brighton, Lillian joined the Wrens. She then worked as a head housekeeper at the Savoy London before returning to the South coast where she was head housekeeper at The Metropole, Brighton.
Lillian has always had a love of animals especially dogs. Previous interests include watching football, rugby, cricket and show jumping and she enjoys listening to classical music in her room.
This wonderful milestone was celebrated with family and staff at Hillside Lodge. A beautiful cake was provided by Sally, Lillian’s niece.
Lillian received her telegram from the Queen which takes pride of place on her chest of drawers.
Happy Birthday Lillian!
