Elmcroft

So many smiles and so much joy at Elmcroft as Elvis entertained us! 

Elmcroft celebrated Muriel’s 103rd Birthday and everyone enjoyed the singalong, tea and some cake. 

Muriel is an amazing resident, with a strong will power and determination. She is a great inspiration to us all being over a century and still one of the first up to dance.

Residents enjoyed some musical entertainment from Jerry and his Accordion 

Easter was an enjoyable time at Elmcroft, our residents enjoyed making lots of Easter decorations, decorating plates and making tissue paper mache eggs and Easter bonnets.

Elmcroft was happy for our resident Paul to have his mates round for a curry and lager night. Good time had by all!

Little Irish Dancers visit Elmcroft. We all enjoyed watching them and the music! What a wonderful time had by all.

Elmcroft has had a fun and busy week. 

We had a street Market and our residents enjoyed looking at all the fun things they could choose.

The Café has been busy for visits and Gladys enjoyed a nice cup of tea and a cup cake with our lovely support worker Olatayo. 

On Sunday afternoon, the residents enjoyed a social lunch in the street for a larger lunch time experience with friends. 

Rise Life Sports Games had us all laughing with adapted chair and wheelchair sports.

Today we had students from the sixth form of Shoreham Academy join us for Chair exercises and fun with scarfs.

We love keeping our residents busy!

Back in October, residents made a 75th Birthday Card to his Majesty King Charles III.

We painted flowers in the style of the coronation invitation and then left special individual messages.

This was an idea from our lovely residents who wrote a fantastic messages in the inside and collectively decorated this.

We are proud and very happy to say that we received a thank you card in return from his Majesty King Charles III.

Elmcroft celebrated a special 90th Birthday for Adelina with lots residents and employees. 

Jerry who plays an accordion entertained us all and we all got up to have a sing and a dance.

This was a special treat as Jerry knows Adelina and her family as he was the hired entertainer at her 60th Birthday party, he is one of Adelina’s favourite singers along with Tom Jones. 

Sadly Tom Jones was busy but we felt very lucky to of had Jerry to be singing and playing his accordion years later for her 90th was a real treat. 

With all the rain that we've been having latley we thought we'd have popcorn and a cinema day at Elmcroft.

Residents enjoyed an afternoon at the pub! We had some food and drinks and great time.

Elmcroft residents celebrated Valentine's Day with a tea party and entertainment. It was a celebration of love!

New Elmcroft made Christmas Cards and delivered them to a local Primary School in the first week of December. 

The Children from Violet and Clover classes at Herons Dale Primary made thank you cards and sent lovely messages to our residents. 

Today we have been reading them and admiring the lovely art work. This was a really lovely experience and brought back lots of happy memories and great conversations.

We hope to keep in touch with the local school and invite them in for any shows, singing and art work sharing. Building friendships in the community and across the generations.

Elmcroft residents enjoyed a fun packed music session with students from Shoreham Academy, they sang all their favourite songs and waved scarfs in the air. They even had our lovely support staff Yumi joining in.  

Elmcroft has bought a new smart television for our residents to enjoy. Today we have been enjoying watching funny animal videos and talking about being a pet owner and sharing our own funny stories.  Lots of happy memories shared.

New Elmcroft had a Burns Night celebration in the daytime time. Starting with a Neeps and Tatties lunch, wee dram's of whiskey and Irn-bru while enjoying an afternoon of singing and listening to an entertainer singing a few classic Scottish songs with his guitar. Not forgetting the lovely shortbread that we all enjoyed and the plenty of fun with friends and family ending the fab day with a paper caber toss competition.

It’s not a blue Monday in Elmcroft today. Our resident's were pleased to watch local people from the town on the TV, Shoreham by sea. They made a Guinness world record for sharing kisses and hugs. We will also keep the happiness going at the residents meet too.

Christine enjoyed her lovely homemade Birthday cake and the lovely support workers Jo Jo, Chloe and Rachel sang and Angela the activities coordinator. At Elmcroft we love to look after ours residents making them feel special at every opportunity.

Some of the ladies at Elmcroft enjoyed visiting the hairdressers then a nice cuppa tea and chat at the Elmcroft Cafe with freshly make cakes on offer too. What a treat.

Residents also had fun and games with Rise life today. We played chair rugby, tennis and football. So much fun was had by all.

Residents at New Elmcroft enjoyed receiving their personal newsletters from their families, with all the Christmas celebration stories.

We have also enjoyed decorating our own 2024 calendars for our rooms.

Elmcroft celebrated Christmas with a violinist that was truly amazing. We all sang around the Christmas Tree and even got up for a little dance! One of our residents called Graham enjoyed everyone singing happy birthday to him too. 

We made Christmas cards for pupils at a local Primary School, building friendship’s between the generations.

Elmcroft residents enjoyed making Christmas tree decorations from salt dough with sixth form students from Shoreham Academy.

Elmcroft's Christmas Party was a success, with resident's enjoying a fantastic performance from the Phoenix theatre Company. This was so amazing it was like being in the London West end theatres, in which some of the young and talented singers do actually perform in. 

Elmcroft Staff added to the fun with their fun festive outfits. Gary and his team made a fantastic buffet spread with all the party favourites, Anita made us all laugh with her jokes during the raffle and lots of great photos were taken for the residents Famileo Magazine’s.  

Elmcroft residents enjoyed seeing Dougal today in his little Christmas jumper. He brought everyone so much joy and love and many happy memories of owning a dog and funny stories was shared.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Elmcroft...

We have been talking about our favourite Christmas and happy memories and what’s important to us, getting an understanding that makes the Christmas celebrations personal centred.  

We have been making Christmas cards for a local school and writing letters for pen pals too. Practising our singing for the Christmas Carol afternoons and dance moves for the Christmas Party.

Elmcroft has been enjoying a Christmas craft day, painting a gingerbread man for photoshoots. We have also managed to get Gary our domestic to enjoy a photo opportunity in which our residents and families can enjoy.

Residents have also been getting beautiful Christmas photographs taken for their families for the Christmas familio magazine.

Elmcroft residents and staff enjoyed a good entertainment experience from Jennie singing vintage classics. We all enjoyed singing along and even some residents got up to have a dance. 

Elmcroft residents have been busy being creative with the help of Sixth Form students from the local secondary school, Shoreham Academy.

Elmcroft residents made poppies with the help from some visitors from Shoreham Academy. During the craft activity there was lots of lovely chats and making new friends.

Elmcroft resident, Jean, enjoyed being creative and helped paint a beautiful painting of a cross in a field for Remembrance Day. 

On Remembrance Day our residents can stick a red poppy with their own personal messages to someone passed. Lest we forget.

This Halloween it’s been an 'Nightmare on Elmcroft' as the residents mummified the staff and everyone had a fun afternoon with tricks and treats.

 Elmcroft residents are getting ready for Halloween! We had a fun afternoon and started painting scary pumpkins.

Today we had the firefighters in to show us a little about what they do. As you can see in the photos, the residents had lots of fun!

Elmcroft Employee of the Month for September went to our amazing Dejin who deserves this for every month of the year as he is such a good team player and fantastic to all our residents. He was presented this award at the Elmcrofts 15th Anniversary celebrations by VIPs from West Sussex and Elmcrofts Home Manager Onkemetse.

Joyce a resident from Elmcroft enjoyed her Birthday. She went out for lunch with her family and when she returned, we all enjoyed some birthday cake.

Huge congratulations to team Elmcroft in Shoreham who celebrated their 15th Anniversary yesterday.

Residents, families, the team and the local community attended to enjoy the fun and some delicious cakes!

On the weekend residents from Elmcroft and the team did a memory walk for the Alzheimer’s society and managed to raise £145.50 (one euro).  

Well done to all, it was a great walk into Shoreham.  

Elmcroft had a successful market where everyone got a treat and had fun looking at the stalls!

Last week Elmcroft held a MacMillan cake sale to raise money for the charity. The total we made was £28:80!

The cake sell did really well and raised a lot of interest from our team.

Elmcrofts July employee of the month was rewarded to Katy from the service administrator. Well done Katy, very well deserved! 

We held a professional day today at Elmcroft in Shoreham by Sea. Congratulations also to Onkenmetse on getting your managers registration. 

Residents at Elmcroft have been decorating pictures of Frida Kahlo with picked flowers from the garden to celebrate Mexico's Independence Day.

Well done Jumoke for winning August Employee of the Month. Very well deserved, enjoy your chocolates! 

Residents at Elmcroft are enjoying reading their Summer edition of the Famileo Magazine. 

We all had so much fun singing and dancing whilst Gerry entertained us with his tunes!

Christine enjoyed her birthday at New Elmcroft. All the residents and team sang happy birthday to her and we celebrated with a lovely cake and a cup of tea.

The sun is out which means we our Elmcroft residents visited the shops then enjoyed a nice drink in the park. It was a wonderful sunny day. 

We have had a great time at Elmcroft, everyone enjoyed the visit of some very sweet baby ducks and chickens. We learnt how to look after them and the farmer taught us the correct way of handling them. This was great fun and brought us all a lot of happiness.We also celebrated generations spending time together and helping with the excitement of passing the ducks to each other.

 

Elmcroft’s strawberries have grown from cutting from last year and produced a nice bowl of strawberries which residents have been picking and enjoying. We have also grown chives and mint. 

New Elmcroft had a fun open day where friends and families got together for an enjoyable rock n roll singer, raffle and buffet with lots dancing and fun. It was great welcoming new faces to our home.

Elmcroft, West Sussex has organised regular visits with Canine Concern. 
Dougal, was a little bundle of joy bringing much love and created lots of smiles to our residents.

This week residents watched the butterfly cycle and today we watched them fly away. Some of our residents was lucky enough that one landed on a pot plant on their table and onto one person’s clothing. But we were very careful as we wanted them to fly free and pointed to the sky. After we enjoyed music and ice lollipops and spoke about where the butterflys might fly to.

Elmcroft residents put their sense of smell to the test this morning with a quiz of name that scent, featuring lavender, lemon, chives, cranberries and mint.

In the afternoon, residents had fun holding hands and singing along with Jennie the entertainer. Our staff helped encourage everyone to all the time dance, wave or hold hands while sitting. We even had residents watching from the balcony joining in.

Elmcroft Residents cut the ribbon to our Coronation Tree and sang God Save the King waving flags. Some of our residents wrote personal messages which were placed in the tree.

Elmcroft residents are enjoying the coronation by play our very own homemade board game. This is helping us remember everything royal and British.

Residents at Elmcroft, West Sussex, have had fun singing and dancing with glitter hats, feathers and musical instruments during a Kiddly Dively music session.

Residents are looking forward for the Kings Coronation on the 6th May and are starting to decorate the home with their artwork.

Elmcroft has a hair dressing salon that is open every Tuesday and our residents are enjoying their new styles then getting their nails pampered after.

Residents made a Grand National roll the dice game this morning! We enjoyed playing it later in the afternoon. 

Residents at New Elmcroft, West Sussex are getting ready for the Easter Bonnet parade and we’re going to have an Easter party with an Entertainer singing.

The residents at Elmcroft, enjoyed their monthly choir session. This is held on the first Tuesday of the month with a wide range of songs that make us all happy. We do songs actions, clapping and lots of foot tapping. Lots of smiles and laughter too. All thanks to Mary and friends who sing and play an organ.

We celebrated team Elmcroft today in Shoreham. The Chairman of Adur and Worthing council was there to join in with all the celebrations. All staff received a certificate and chocolate treat! Thank you all for your continuing hard work and effort. 

It was a residents birthday recently, so we planned a special table setting and meal for him with a birthday cake.

Elmcroft residents have been exercising with dance scarves and having fun singing and playing musical instruments.

Today at New Elmcroft we have been painting pictures of Chinese Rabbits ready for the Chinese celebrations this weekend.

Today at New Elmcroft, West Sussex, we have been singing, dancing and some of our residents had photos taken at our photo display. 

Today at New Elmcroft, we have further cemented our friendship with Dunelm. As the Shoreham-by-sea, Dunelm helpers, James Backshall, Alicia Cheal, Jamie De Jong and Liberty Clarke, treated our residents and home to some new Christmas decorations on their Delivering Joy scheme.

On Remembrance Sunday some residents from New Elmcroft, West Sussex, visited the towns parade. We saw lots of uniforms and was most impressed by seeing Helen one of our Support Workers wearing the St John’s uniform with lots of medals.

A group of children from the 3rd Shoreham Sea Scouts joined residents of Elmcroft care home for a heartwarming evening of board games and song, as part of a successful partnership initiative that is breaking down stereotypes and bringing rewards for participants from both generations.
