Deerswood Lodge in West Sussex has launched a brand new ‘Happiness Café’ to provide residents with a unique social space in hopes of improving mental and physical wellbeing.

The café, which aims to provide a recognisable environment for residents to relax and unwind in outside of their usual surroundings, was official opened by local Councillors Jilly Heart and Peter Smith.

The home is also hoping the new initiative will improve the physical health of their residents, ensuring improved hydration with a delicious array of fresh fruit smoothies. A range of croissants and delicious cakes will also be on offer to all visitors.

A spokesperson from the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, who also attended the launch, said: “It was great to join Deerswood lodge in the launch of their new Happiness Café, which has been developed for residents and relatives to enjoy. We hope it goes from strength to strength”.

Wan Nowakowski, manager at the care home, also commented: “We have had a wonderful day launching our Happiness Café with residents and guests alike.

“We understand the importance of memorable and recognisable social environments for residents, and how these can help stimulate memories and conversations. We hope that the café will go from strength-to-strength and act as a social hub for residents and visitors alike.”
