We celebrated the 75th birthday of the NHS by holding a summer fete at Brynhyfryd. The day was made extra special by the attendance of family and friends of the residents, the Builth community alongside the residents themselves.  It was a real opportunity for multiple generations to get together and celebrate this amazing occasion.

We were supported by Men’s Builth Choir, Megan Reece (runner up in 2016 on The Voice), Woolly Wednesdays of Builth, Smooth Jazz Dance Group and the local Scouts group.  We ran a BBQ which was supported by the very generous donation of meat from the Burger Factory and were then able to burn off some of those calories on the bouncy castle, which was provided by Lumpers Jumpers.

The day started rainy and overcast but later we enjoyed sunshine when the residents were able to enjoy the delicacies of Gino’s Ice Creams.

On the day we raised £524.11 which is going towards the garden refurbishment, which is currently in the planning phase, and we are looking forward to having an opening party once the work has been done, which the residents will be able to enjoy and take part in planting flowers and try to grow our own vegetables!

Hopefully by the time we get to our next fete we will have a whole new garden to show off and share with the wider community.  We will be sure to have an opening party when this happens.

We would like to say a special thank you to all staff, families and friends who helped either in the planning phase and who attended the fete to make it such an all-round enjoyable day, and also to the NHS who provided a grant via the Powys Teaching & Health Board Small Events Committee.

We will be back bigger & better next year, so watch this space!
