Today we took the opportunity to celebrate something that’s at the heart of Sycamore – our people.
Staff and residents came together for a day of recognition, laughter and celebration, taking time to acknowledge the individuals who make our home such a special place to live and work.
One of the highlights of the day was presenting our long service awards, recognising team members who have reached significant milestones with Sycamore. In particular, we celebrated a core group of colleagues who marked five years with us. Looking back, many of them joined the home during a period of growth and change, and over the last five years they have helped build the stable, experienced and compassionate team we are so fortunate to have today.
We also presented our resident awards, with each winner chosen by their fellow residents. It was lovely to see residents recognising one another for their kindness, friendship and the positive contribution they make to life at Sycamore. Those moments made the day feel especially meaningful.
The celebrations also gave us a chance to reflect on what has been a positive year for the home. Achieving a Good rating across all areas in our recent Care Quality Commission inspection was an important milestone, as was continuing to maintain a full team and a fully occupied home. While these are achievements we’re proud of, they are really a reflection of the dedication, consistency and genuine care shown by our staff every day.
Most of all, today was about saying thank you. Thank you to our residents for making Sycamore such a warm and welcoming community, to our staff for everything they do each day, and to everyone who helped organise such a fantastic celebration.
Days like today remind us that the real strength of Sycamore isn’t found in awards or inspection ratings, it’s found in the people who make our home what it is. We look forward to celebrating many more milestones together.
