One of Northamptonshire’s oldest residents has celebrated her 105th birthday at Thorndale

Phyllis Hunt celebrated her birthday with an afternoon tea party at the home.

The former sewing machinist had visits from her granddaughter Donna and great granddaughter Sophie to mark the special occasion, and she also received video messages from her family, including her niece who lives in America.

Ms Hunt was 24-years-old when she married her husband, Frank Norman Hunt. During World War Two she took on a role repairing airplane wings and, afterwards, started a family with Frank, going on to have one child, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jemima Adams, manager of Thorndale, said: “We always try our best to keep spirits high at Thorndale, so despite the ongoing pandemic, we wanted to make Phyliss’ birthday as enjoyable as possible.

“Despite her advanced years, Phyllis hasn’t lost her wit and it was a pleasure to celebrate her birthday in style.”
