Mill River Lodge in Horsham welcomed the chairman of Horsham Council, Councillor David Skipp, to their premises for a celebration.

He said: “I was delighted to be invited to Mill River Lodge’s celebration of the extraordinary and dedicated work of the staff during this very difficult period. I was very impressed with the friendly and safe environment that the residents enjoy and am full of admiration for the team that have made this such a welcoming place.”

Staff came together to enjoy the buffet and cakes to celebrate each other’s hard work throughout the Covid pandemic.

Also in attendance and representing Shaw healthcare was Mike Smith, chief financial officer, and Russell Brown, chief executive officer. They congratulated the staff for receiving a ‘good’ report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which praised them for making residents feel happy and safe.

Doreen Holmes, newly appointed manager of the home, commented: “We have a great relationship with our residents and their loved ones, so this is a real testament to the hard-working team we have here at Mill River Lodge. Ultimately, we want to deliver the level of care that we would want for our own loved ones.

Elga Ekonomi, former manager who has now taken the reigns at Elmcroft care home, added: “We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming guests to Mill River Lodge last week and can’t wait for more members of the community to visit in the future.”
