Ashburnham House, a supported living service, has held a celebratory event this month as a thank you to the employees for their dedication and commitment throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event was attended by local dignitaries including Councillor Phil Lewis - The Mayor of Talgarth, Councillor William Powell, Councillor Malcolm Dodds and Councillor Glyn Jones.
They joined staff and residents for the celebrations which included CEO of Shaw healthcare, Russell Brown, handing out certificates and chocolate gifts to staff.
One colleague in particular, Barbara Lewis, was recognised for her long service and was awarded a 10-year certificate. She joins nine other members of staff who have also worked at Ashburnham house for over 10 years.
Speaking after the presentations, Councillor William Powell, said: “Patrick and his dedicated team here have worked diligently to look after the residents at Ashburnham, in this well-established supported living setting. The residents are an important part of our town centre community and play a significant role in local life.
“Shaw healthcare can be proud of their team at Ashburnham House. The staff turnover is minimal and today’s ‘Thank you’ event and the long service awards reflect that. In addition, Patrick and his team always support local business wherever possible, with the main catering needs for the residents met within a 200-metre radius of the front door, thus keeping the food miles to a minimum. During the long weeks of Covid lockdown, this was particularly important.
“I salute the success of Ashburnham House and hope that it will continue long into the future.’’
Patrick Sharman, service manager of the Shaw healthcare operated facility, added: “It has been wonderful to be able to invite people back to Ashburnham for this special celebration. I can’t explain how proud I am of the staff here and the way everyone pulled together through what has been the most challenging time in our careers.
“We are looking forward to welcoming more people from the community into the home for future events.”
