It was Powys' turn to celebrate the Regional Shaw Star Awards, as colleagues from all 12 care homes came together for a wonderful garden party hosted by Maes y Wennol in Llanidloes.
Guests were welcomed to the event by the beautiful singing voice of Sioned May, who entertained everyone with a selection of popular hits, creating the perfect atmosphere as everyone arrived and settled into the afternoon's celebrations.
Operations manager, Ross Anderson was on top form with his now-famous annual quiz, which this year was won by Team Wylesfield. Newly appointed Manager Nasher Nissan and Shaw Star Award nominee Stacey Oldham were presented with a hamper to share with their team at Wylesfield, along with the prestigious Powys Quiz Winners' Trophy for 2026.
The highlight of the afternoon was hearing the truly inspirational stories behind each of this year's Shaw Star Award nominees. Their passion and dedication to making a difference every day reminded everyone just how fortunate we are to have them as part of the Shaw family.
We were also delighted to welcome special guests from Powys County Council: Peter Lathbury, Strategic Commissioning Manager and Netty Steadman, Residential Care Brokerage and Contracts Officer. Netty previously managed Wylesfield Care Home, making her return especially meaningful as she joined us in celebrating the outstanding achievements of our colleagues across the region.
Also in attendance were Shaw healthcare's Regional Director, Geraint Evans and Operations Managers Suzanne Richardson and Kathy Burroughs, who joined Shaw this week.
