Ledbury Nursing Home has officially unveiled newly refurbished areas following a £650,000 investment designed to enhance care environments, accessibility and the overall experience for residents, visitors and colleagues.

The refurbishment includes significantly improved communal spaces, along with the introduction of dedicated entrances for each of the three services operating on the site: Ledbury Nursing Home, Market Lodge, and the Intermediate Care Unit/Minor Injuries Unit (MIU). These changes provide clearer access, improved privacy and a more welcoming experience for everyone using the services.

All three services are based on Market Street in the heart of Ledbury and are operated by Shaw healthcare, the UK’s largest employee-owned care provider. The investment reflects Shaw healthcare’s ongoing commitment to improving care environments and supporting both the people who use its services and the colleagues who work within them.

The refurbishment was marked with a celebratory afternoon tea attended by residents, colleagues, families and invited guests. The event was joined by Councillor Stephen Chowns, representatives from a local primary school who act as Ambassadors for the Community of Ledbury, and the town crier, Mike Fray. Entertainment was provided by Simon Partridge, The Vintage Singer, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere.

Jane Pye, Service Manager at Ledbury Nursing Home, said: “This investment demonstrates Shaw’s long-term commitment to Ledbury and to providing high-quality, accessible environments where people can receive outstanding care. The refurbished spaces and dedicated entrances will make a real difference to daily life for residents, visitors and our colleagues.”

The unveiling represents an important milestone for the Ledbury services and reinforces Shaw healthcare’s focus on community-based care and continuous improvement.
