We're proud to announce the latest step in Shaw’s ongoing journey to becoming more environmentally friendly - the installation of solar panels at our Head Office in Cardiff.
The development marks another milestone in our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and investing in sustainable energy across our sites.
The solar panel installation is part of a wider green initiative at Shaw, aimed at making our operations more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. By using renewable energy at Shaw, we’re not only reducing our reliance on fossil fuels but also cutting costs and reinvesting those savings into the quality care we provide.

Solar energy is already being used successfully at several Shaw care homes and plans are also underway to assess further opportunities across the estate, ensuring we continue leading the way in responsible healthcare.
Homefield House in Basingstoke is next in line to benefit from solar panel installation – another important step in our mission to roll out clean energy across our services.
In addition to solar energy, Shaw is taking a comprehensive approach to sustainability through several other initiatives. These include replacing outdated appliances with energy-efficient models, switching to LED lighting, installing smart thermostats and hybrid energy systems, and sourcing renewable energy tariffs.
Our commitment extends to reducing paper use, improving recycling efforts, using recyclable catering packaging, managing food waste, and promoting rainwater harvesting and composting. We also encourage energy awareness among staff, partner with eco-conscious waste providers, and support car sharing to reduce transport emissions.
