A recent visit has been organised by Carmel McBride, project manager of the commercial and development team at Shaw healthcare; to showcase the new care home to a small group of students.  Brushwood is in the progress of being built and managed by Shaw healthcare in Speke, Liverpool.  The service will provide a hub for 60 resident places, comprising 12 reablement beds, 12 older person's nursing beds, 24 dementia nursing beds and 12 complex dementia nursing beds.  The service will be open this summer 2019.

The group attend a sector based work academy, which is in partnership with Shaw healthcare, Hugh Baird College and the Department of Work and Pension.  This scheme is available in England and Scotland, supporting young adults to gain beneficial work experience and qualifications towards their chosen business sector, and can also help people secure employment.  Claire Dahill from Hugh Baird College, thanked Shaw healthcare for allowing their students to experience the build; stating that the students 'loved this visit and it's made them even more committed to the roles'.

Carmel McBride enthusiastically explains 'these people are presently unemployed, and are really keen to work for Shaw healthcare.  The group have undertaken a six week course, for five days per week.  They have recently taken exams for them to achieve a certified Level 1 award.  Shaw healthcare has agreed to interview all of the students and they have sufficient places to offer, with the successful outcome of their interview.'
