Cartref has received a pleasant surprise as they have been awarded a certificate for their 'best dressed window' competition for their innovative floral design which incorporated bird feeders within the display.

Cartref entered the Hay in bloom business competition, where the theme was to incorporate 'green transport'; such as cycling, walking, horse and cart etc; into their outdoor floral displays.  The display had to incorporate the colours blue, yellow and red or pink; which will be a feast of colour across Hay on Wye.

The judges were looking for a variety of displays from hanging baskets to floral troughs as well as incorporating recycled materials, collages or artwork.  The displays were not limited to the window, as this year the contesters were able to venture within their own vicinity to demonstrate creativity and colour harmony.

The categories for the competition was split into two being either large windows or small windows displays.

On Saturday 4th August the judging took place. The appointed judges from Hay Town Council and Hay & District Chamber of Commerce managing Committee, selected their winners for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for both categories as well as an overall winner for both.

The news of Cartref winning an award took place on the 27th August as the local Mayor visited Cartref to present them with their certificate for the Hay in Bloom business competition 2019.   Cartref Manager Sylvia Illingsworth was so delighted.
