Urmston House, which provides support for people with learning disabilities and additional complex needs, has celebrated 20 years of delivering care in the community.

The home marked the anniversary with an afternoon tea party and music.

Due to current visiting restrictions, the event was limited to staff and residents only, with relatives joining by video call.

Home manager, Trudie Morse, said: “We were delighted to be celebrating the hard work and dedication of our staff since we opened in 2000. We have faced several challenges during that time – with the current pandemic the toughest one yet. Despite this, our staff always step up to the task and I cannot thank them enough.

Urmston House provides round-the-clock care for six adults, enabling them to develop the skills to take advantage of social and recreational opportunities in the community.

Jeremy Nixey, CEO for Shaw healthcare – which operations the home – added: “ For twenty years, Urmston House has provided a loving, supportive and happy community for residents and staff alike, thanks to the commitment and generosity of the many staff who have served there.

“Our thanks and appreciation go to all of staff, past and present, to Trudie and her very committed team.”
