Taking part in activities promote a strong sense of wellbeing in an individual and can help stimulate parts of the brain that are affected by dementia and other mental health conditions.
Our activity schedules within our care homes aim to both physically and mentally stimulate individuals. They encourage therapeutic enjoyment and allow for opportunities to be social. Mental activities such as word searches and puzzles stimulate the individual mentally, helping them to improve concentration, as well as short term and long term memory. Crafts and other various gentle activities can help improve physical mobility, as well as encourage relaxation and release tension. We offer emotional support through all our activity choices, acknowledging achievements and successes of each individual.
We like to celebrate events such as birthdays and anniversaries, as we believe special occasions help engage the mind of those suffering from dementia. Other regional and national events are also celebrated, and religious observances and cultural activities are also recognised. We try and encourage trips away from the care homes such as meals out, shows and theatre trips.
