With Mental Health Awareness week this May; Justine Baker, an Occupational Therapist at Maes-y-dderwen decided to organise an activity to fundraise.

The Occupational team came up with the inspirational idea for an all staff bake off.  The cakes baked would raise money for Mental Health Awareness week (13th - 19th May 2019).   The Ocupational Therapist team actively advertised the event at the service unit, keen to get everyone involved.

The fundraising was a success as the staff kindly donated and baked the cakes for the day.  The young service users at Maes-y-dderwen came together to enjoy cake and coffee, whilst having the important opportunity to raise awareness of mental health, something that strikes a chord for all at the service.  The team raised £40 for their chosen charity MIND.

MIND is a well known charity that are committed to improve mental health in the UK. In Wales alone, there are 20 local MIND services.  MIND provides support and advice to empower anyone experiencing mental health problems. www.mind.org.uk
