Employee of the Month at Danybryn goes to Cheryl!
Cheryl always has a smile for residents and staff and will willingly help out. She has gone the extra mile reacting swiftly during a recent incident here at Danybryn, which prevented a hospital admission. Well done Cheryl!
Great to have Chris from Welsh Dragon Chilli back at Danybryn today, planting some delicious new additions! Giant pumpkins and sweetcorn are now in the mix – exciting things ahead for the garden!
Residents at Danbryn Care Home in Radyr are spicing up their daily routine thanks to an exciting new partnership with local chilli expert Chris Fowler, founder of Welsh Dragon Chilli.
Sad to say goodbye to Laura our Activity Team Leader who has brought so much energy and enthusiasm to the role. Please We want to wish her well in her new ventures!
What a fantastic morning at Danybryn with the brilliant Chris Fowler from Welsh Dragon Chillis! Residents got stuck into planting a wide variety of vegetables and plants — including pumpkins, cucumbers, chillis, tomatoes, and sunflowers — all from world record-breaking lineages!
Chris shared his incredible knowledge and passion throughout the session, explaining the origins and care of each plant in a way that had everyone fascinated and eager to learn more.
He also brought along an exciting selection of chillis and his famously fiery sauces, with names like Yellow Flame and Nuclear Waste adding some extra spice to the day.
Everyone enjoyed getting their hands dirty, planting and watering together, and there’s a real buzz about watching everything grow. We’re all looking forward to tasting the fruits (and veg!) of our labour in the months ahead.
Huge thanks to Chris for such an inspiring, informative, and fun-filled session!
Residents enjoyed a lovely buffet prepared by cooks Helen and Gavin at part of the VE Day Anniversary celebrations.
A sad day for all at Danybryn as we said goodbye to Fatima as she starts her new career in the NHS on Monday. We wish her all the best.
Staff and residents at Danybryn completed a sponsored wheelchair walk to raise money for MS UK.
MS UK is a national charity close to the hearts of the team, as one of their residents’ lives with multiple sclerosis.
The wheelchair walk, saw the intrepid team take on the inclement weather, starting at Café Castan in Llandaff Fields and ending at Danybryn Summerhouse. It has already raised funds over £280.
Thank you to all of the people who have donated to our fundraiser so far and joined us for the walk.
