Supported Living - how it works

Once a group of tenants have been identified as being suitable to move on to an accommodation based service and are considered to be a compatible group, a property is sourced from an outside landlord and terms negotiated.  Shaw will then organise the applications for housing benefits and other benefits to which the tenants are entitled and will set up the tenancies with the independent landlord.

Shaw enters into a contract with the purchasing authority for the provision of a certain level of support – this amount is then reviewed periodically and adjusted as required.

Each tenant enters into an agreement with Shaw which covers the contributions that they will be required to make to cover any communal costs shared between the occupants of a shared property.

Each tenant signs an Assured Shorthold Tenancy with the independent landlord.

Shaw signs an over-arching Service Level Agreement with the landlord to ensure that the tenants best interests are served and to protect the rights of both the landlord and tenants.
