Specialist services

Shaw healthcare has considerable experience of delivering services to individuals with wide ranging support needs including mental health, Asperger’s Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and acquired brain injury.

We support people with a learning disability who have additional multiple and complex support issues such as personality disorders, mental health issues and sensory impairment. We strongly believe in a person centred philosophy which places each individual at the centre of a support package individually tailored to provide genuine choices in every aspect of their lives. Our services are provided in a way to encourage and enable both social care and community led activities, embracing a full range of available public services including recreational, educational or work based opportunities.

We offer our services in a variety of settings including:

  • Supported living units
  • Housing with support
  • Care homes for adults and older people with varying levels of learning disabilities
  • Care homes catering for dual diagnosis including mental health and physical disabilities
  • Domiciliary care
  • Services for people with forensic backgrounds who may also be detained under the Mental Health Act.
  • Centres which specialise in caring for people who have an acquired brain injury.

Care Pathways

We try to develop a "Care Pathway" in conjunction with the person's family and existing carers. The Care Pathway is designed to provide a sequence of care environments which enable the person to become more and more independent and self reliant. The pathway may begin at the point where the person is receiving intensive care from one or more people 24 hours a day and, over time, move in the direction of Supported living.
We provide individual support and care packages that embrace opportunities to:-
  • Improve health and well being
  • Maximise quality of life
  • Develop life skills and enable positive contributions
  • Promote choice and control
  • Facilitate personal dignity
  • Maximize independence

All of our services provide access to high quality living accommodation that includes individual bedrooms together with communal recreational and leisure areas.
