End of life care

There are occasions when a long term condition or terminal illness no longer responds to treatment. During this most difficult time Shaw can offer compassionate care and a range of associated support services, tailored for the individual and their family and friends.

In our care homes we have specially trained palliative nursing and care staff, who use active care methods to improve pain control and quality of life. Our staff work closely with family, friends and carers to give personal support throughout the resident's illness and into the period of  bereavement.

Our care homes often form part of the local community palliative care service, working alongside GP’s, community nurses and other support groups such as Macmillan Nurses.
