Housing management & support

Shaw has extensive experience in providing management housing support to social housing schemes derived from the following:

  • Adams Court, Cardiff – initially developed, managed by and operated by Shaw to provide student accommodation, then accommodation for asylum seekers and finally as a homeless persons hostel.
  • Newtown Court, Cardiff – a traditional sheltered housing scheme providing low cost accommodation.
  • Baneswell Housing Association – a small housing association registered by the Welsh Assembly, based in Newport, Gwent. Shaw manages all aspects of its affairs on behalf of the Committee and which include finances, lettings, rent collection, housing support and property repairs, maintenance and refurbishment.
  • NCB Portfolio – this is a social housing portfolio owned by Shaw and comprised of 350 ex Coal Board properties located within the South Wales valleys. The rents are predominantly funded by Housing Benefit and Shaw has rent collection systems in place accordingly.
  • Kennedy House – this is a homeless person’s hostel accessed by persons on housing benefit, who are also provided with support to enable them to return to a normal life.
  • Extra Care facilities – this encompasses private for sale and rented properties sponsored by local authorities where rent and service charge is funded by housing benefit.
  • Supported Living projects - where Shaw healthcare (FM Services) Ltd acts as landlord and contracts at arms length with its sister company who provides the support services.
