Administrators Loraine & Glenda from Longlands Specialist Care Centre had a thought one warm summer’s day for a fundraising idea. They passed the idea past manager Francine Halcrow, who gave consent for them to go ahead and action their thoughts of arranging fantastic Christmas hampers as a fundraising idea. By October, the girls pretty much had everything ready. In their spare time they had put together lists of items which they believed would make the Christmas hampers really hard for people to pass by; and not purchase a ticket. The lists were displayed in the centre asking for specific donations, in order for Loraine & Glenda to make the hampers up. The girls have been thrilled at the response from everyone and with all the goods that have been donated have put together 6 fantastic hampers up for raffle. For the past three weeks Loraine & Glenda have taken the lead in selling tickets £3 a strip or 2 strips of tickets for £5. The array of 6 hampers really does look a wonderful sight when you first enter the centre; visitors are buying tickets every day. The really special thing about this story is the two ladies working as administrators wanting to do something special for the home they work in and the residents they look after. Their fantastic idea has raised nearly £800 for the homes amenities budget. A fantastic idea, well done Lorain & Glenda.
