On Thursday 22nd October, her grace the Duchess of Norfolk spent the afternoon at The Martlets Care Home with residents, relatives, staff and invited guests after formally opening the newly created “Dene Coleman Gardens”.
The four gardens had been developed over the summer months with funding from an ex resident, Miss Dene Coleman who had left money in her will for the benefit of future residents at The Martlets.

Shaw healthcare Chairman, Mr. Alun Thomas and the Duchess were escorted around the gardens by Home Manager Mrs Marian Drake where they saw the Kitchen, Water, Reminiscence and Courtyard gardens, before unveiling the commemorative plaque which was followed by the Duchess meeting all of the residents over a buffet tea in “the Street”.
The Duchess of Norfolk seemed completely at her ease since she extended her stay, to spend time with residents and their relatives.
