Residents and staff at Shaw’s Woodside Resource Unit in Ross-on-Wye have been busy modelling animals in aid of a local charity. It was Cherry Fryer, a Support Worker at the unit, who first had the idea to help the Noah’s Ark Trust.

The Trust provides support to children, young people, and their families, who have experienced a bereavement. The service is provided throughout Worcestershire and Herefordshire by trained bereavement service coordinators, assisted by a growing team of volunteers.

At Woodside, the members made all sorts of animals, and helped to design and construct the ark. The animals were then raffled, and over £60 was raised for the Noah’s Ark Trust. This money will be used for a balloon launch of messages to parents, which takes place at the end of a residential course for some of the bereaved children.

Cherry said “It was great fun for all of us to do this project, and good to know we can help the Trust in their very valuable work”.
