Training at Shaw healthcare
Wherever you start with Shaw healthcare, you’ll have access to training and education to develop your career. You’ll participate in our staff development programmes, with support through NVQ’s, statutory training, clinical and managerial development. Because we are expanding, you’ll have real opportunities for career development.
We have dedicated trainers in each of our Regions who coordinate mandatory, vocational and development training, study days and CPD, to build on your existing skills.
The training department
Consists of a team of 6 Regional Trainers, 1 Training Manager, an NVQ Assessment Centre Manager and 5 Assessment and Internal Verification staff deliver training and workshops across the whole of the company.
The development of skills and competencies are considered to be an on-going process. Training Programmes and Policies are constantly reviewed and are flexible enough to meet the needs of changing circumstances. As a result we provide both in-house training programmes and use external agencies. Training is geared to provide a high quality of service in client care, with particular reference to principles of good practice. These include:-
- Attending and contributing to in-house training sessions
- Participating with on the job learning which can come from instruction by Mentors, colleagues, Managers, and specialists
- Attending College courses, seminars, conferences, workshops and similar events that take place outside of the work setting
- Using open and distance learning resources.
- Being provided with different types of work experience in a variety of settings
- Undertaking or participating in special projects
- Participating in staff meetings, which can be used to address a range of “training” topics, particularly those that reflect current practice concerns
- Participating in individual and group supervision sessions, which can be used to evaluate and improve their performance and practice
