care home logoThe Hawthorns care home is a specialist facility for elderly people with dementia in Evesham. We employ clinical specialists and qualified professional carers which means that all nursing and personal care needs are fully met. Evidence based practice includes Dementia Care Mapping and other therapeutic activities. The Hawthorns has four self contained dementia care units and in each there are ten comfortable ensuite bedrooms. These four different units offer a range of accommodation and care to afford you and your loved ones real peace of mind.

The homely environment linked with therapeutic activities encourages confidence and assists in maintaining daily living skills. The care of each individual is our highest priority and we believe that residents and their families should contribute towards the planning of their care and that care plans should be individually tailored to meet personal needs.

Regular assessments are undertaken leading to the development of agreed and realistic goals for each person. This forms the basis for Person Centered Care Planning which determines the level of support, specialist input and other resources the individual and their family needs.

Our activity schedules aim to both mentally and physically stimulate participants, they place emphasis on therapeutic enjoyment and provide opportunities to be social. Activities such as crosswords and puzzles improve concentration, short / long term memory and reasoning skills whilst crafts and other gentle activities can improve mobility, release tension and help relaxation. We offer emotional support through activity choices and also acknowledge successes and achievements.

We like to celebrate birthdays, special anniversaries, regional / national events, religious observances, cultural activities and encourage trips away from the care homes such as meals out, shows or theatre and shopping trips.

Our chef prepares all meals on site using fresh, locally sourced produce and can cater for health dietary requirements such as diabetes and also for other cuisine needs. The menu rotates on a monthly basis and features a variety of cuisine options. The table below reflects a typical week of evening meal options at a Shaw care home.

There are communal dining areas which are light and airy where you can socialise or have the option of eating in your room.
